Our luncheon speaker will be John P. Skillestad, who began his career with the FBI as a Special Agent on August 12, 1990. Mr. Skillestad has been assigned to the Violent Crimes Squad investigating many significant cases including bank robberies, kidnappings, extortions, and other violent crimes; the Plano Resident Agency; and the Public Corruption Squad where he participated in several high profile public corruption investigations. In April 2006, SA Skillestad was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent and supervised the Public Corruption Squad. SSA Skillestad oversaw several high profile investigations, most notably the case involving Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill, the case involving Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price, and two investigations of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) – the Procurement Card case and the investigation of the Associate Superintendent of Technology.
SA Skillestad recently returned to case work in the Frisco Resident Agency handling violent incident crime matters, including bank robberies, kidnappings, extortions, and murder-for-hire investigations. He also serves as Media Coordinator for the FBI, and as National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crimes Coordinator in which he assists local law enforcement agencies in the investigation of highly unusual, repetitive, and/or serial violent crime matters for analysis by the NCAVC Unit in Quantico, VA; and an Assessor for the testing of New Agent Applicants. SA Skillestad also serves as a Dallas Division Crisis Management Coordinator and managed the Joint Operations Center for Super Bowl XLV. SA Skillestad is a graduate of the Loyola Law School in New Orleans, LA, and is a member of the Louisiana Bar.
